Total Asbestos & Demolition Pty Ltd holds a Class A asbestos removal licence, a demolition licence and a QBCC Builder – Open licence. We carry $20 million public, products and asbestos liability cover and WorkCover. The details are below so you can check them before you hire us.

Why the Class A Licence Matters
Queensland issues two asbestos removal licences. A Class B licence covers more than 10 square metres of bonded asbestos, such as fibro sheeting, and nothing friable. A Class A licence covers any amount of friable asbestos as well as bonded asbestos over 10 square metres.
Friable asbestos is material that crumbles to powder by hand pressure when dry. It includes pipe lagging, low-density board, sprayed insulation and weathered asbestos in soil that a hygienist classes as friable. Only a Class A licence holder can legally remove it. That is why builders, schools, councils and other removalists bring those jobs to us, as in our Kenmore Village and Zillmere case studies.
Our licence carries a condition: a safe work method statement for the friable work must be available at every workplace where we do it. On a friable job you can ask to see it.
Why Asbestos Liability Cover Matters
Public liability policies commonly exclude asbestos, so a removalist’s general cover may not respond to an asbestos claim. Before you hire anyone, ask whether their insurance covers asbestos. Ours carries a separate $20 million asbestos liability limit, alongside $20 million public and products liability.

- Certificates of currency: builders, principal contractors, property managers and schools often need these before we start. Email admin@total-asbestos.com.au and we will send current certificates for our liability and WorkCover policies.
